I’ve wrapped myself
from the eyes that pry
from the tongues that lie
and from those who want nothing
but a downfall
Take what you will
Eat my flesh ’til you’re ill
chastise and smear me
if it makes you stronger
But know
that I shall not tear
nor will I declare
that I’m down on my knees
because of you
It is He who decreed
that while on my knees
My heart be at peace
And I swear
With hardship comes ease.

Some of the greatest victories are won by refusing to stoop to the level of those who hurt you. Thank you for the inspiration. ~ LY
This has to be one of my favourite poems. It struck me hard as I’m beginning to realise the people who are really there for me when I need them. Please make your pieces longer. God bless you.

Oh, wow. Chantelle, your comment is bittersweet. I love that you could relate to the piece, but also sad that you too have had a touch of sadness related to backstabbing. Thank you for your comment, it’s brightened my day and I’ll see what I can do about writing longer pieces (I struggle with that!). 🙂
